Welcome to the Year of the Dragon!
Today is Lunar New Year’s Day, and according to the Asian zodiac system, the first day of the Year of the Dragon. It’s an auspicious omen for all of us at ArenaNet, as we get ready to make this our own Year of the Dragon.
According to tradition, the dragon embodies passion, independence, and ambition. We think it’s a perfect analogy for what we’re trying to accomplish with Guild Wars 2. We’re a company full of MMO and RPG fans, and we’ve set out to fundamentally rethink how you deliver an RPG experience online. So this year, the Year of the Dragon, let’s usher out old thinking – the tired old quest model, stiff repetitive combat, and monthly fees – and usher in the new.
Guild Wars 2 has captured the imagination of gamers and media all over the world with its action-oriented combat, its living world full of dynamic events, its highly personalized role-playing experience, and the handcrafted artistry that suffuses every element of the game. Last year, thousands of you joined us at shows and events all over the world to try Guild Wars 2 for yourself. This year, you’ll finally be able to immerse yourself in the vast, diverse world of Tyria.
We recently finished our first closed beta test, and we’re now ready to hold progressively larger events. In February we’ll invite select press to participate in beta testing, and in March and April we’ll aggressively ramp up the size of our beta test events so that many of you will have a chance to participate. And of course, this all leads to the release of Guild Wars 2 later this year.
So stay tuned to our official Guild Wars 2 website, our Facebook page, and this blog for more information about how to participate in an upcoming beta event.
It’s been an incredible adventure over the past five years, working with our community and our team of dedicated artists, designers, and programmers to realize this vision. This year, the seeds of that work come to fruition. We can’t wait to play the game with you.

LotRO Kinship Disbanded...
by HunterAP, 10 days agoWrenna contacted me to let me know that the Kinship had been disbanded in LotRO. Turns out that someone usurped the kinship from me since I hadn't logged on in 45 days, they took everything from the kin house and disbanded the kinship.
I contacted LotRO support, and this is what they told me, "Unfortunately, the In-Game Support team is not able to assist with this issue regarding your kinship. We are unable to restore a disbanded kinship, Neither can we assist with any Kinship Leadership or Successor issues."
Turbine is useless. I don't understand what everyone sees in LotRO. The company running the game can't provide any level of customer support to its paying customers.
Honor's Blood Fantasy Football League: Results
by HunterAP, 32 days agoWell, the first annual Honor's Blood Fantasy Football League results are in. I want to say thanks to everyone for playing, and hopefully we can get some more folks to participate next year.
Comets won the playoffs by beating the Naterators, who finished 2nd.
Fancy Pants beat the A-Team to take 3rd place.

Minecraft and Terraria Servers Relocated
by HunterAP, 37 days agoBoth the Minecraft and Terraria servers have been moved to a different machine. The performance difference is substantial, at least from my perspective.

by HunterAP, 37 days agoI'm moving the Minecraft server to a bit beefier PC. This should happen Thursday, around mid-day or so. So expect some downtime.
I'm also going to take the opportunity to install several of the new Spout plugins. Here's a list:

Minecraft Server Updated

I don't have time to set everything up right now and get the old worlds back in the game. But Bukkit and Spout are back in.
Spout has a TON of new features including a crapload of UI and Setting enhancements. You can customize the heck out of how Minecraft looks now. Spout also has client side addon and server side plugin support now. Hopefully addon authors will start converting their addons to bukkit, which will allow single player addons to be used in multiplayer games.
You don't need Spout to play on the server. But there will be some stuff that only works with Spout once I get some time to go through and install the plugins. To get spout:

APB 1.6 Released - Steam Support Added

- New Fight Club Game Mode: 12 v 12 and 16 v 16 deathmatch and Territory Control. (this mode is more friendly for 32 bit people)
- Players now Auto-Ready 30 seconds after a mission.
- Overtime: When missions end, if the losing team is in control of the objective, the timer is extended. If the winning team takes the objective back, game over.
- New Achievements and Steam Support added

Minecraft Server Updated to 1.0
by HunterAP, 54 days agoThe minecraft server has been updated. No bukkit at this point, so that means no mods. Once bukkit comes out with an update, I'll see about putting it back in.
Terraria Server Updated to 1.1
by HunterAP, 55 days agoI updated our Terraria server to 1.1 last night. We proceeded to take down all of the big bosses, but we weren't able to take down the new one. (Wall of Flesh)

Steam - Daily Wishlist Giveaway - Terraria Update
